WHAT IS DISTRICTWORLD?
Districtworld.com is a social network site new style: modern, sexy and stylish combined with a smooth business feel. DistrictWorld allows you to smoothly mix and manage friends and business contacts, companies, brands and favourite hotspots. Networking in an ambiance with like minded people,  the usage of ‘privileges’ as a special feature, exclusively for DistrictWorld members!

At DistrictWorld individuals can create a profile, and ‘brands’ (labels, companies, shops, restaurants, organisations, other institutions) have the unique opportunity to create a ‘District Page’ for optimal presentation without paying any fee. This allows you to use your District for direct consumer-brand interaction, a novelty offered by DistrictWorld.

WHAT DOES A PROFILE LOOK LIKE?
A profile on DistrictWorld consists of the following three sections:

  • PUBLIC PROFILE                  (mandatory ‘business card’, always public)
  • FRIEND PROFILE                  (optional, can be concealed)
  • BUSINESS PROFILE              (optional, can be concealed)           

These layers make it possible to keep your Business Profile and contacts separate of your Friend Profile and contacts. In this way, you can determine exactly who can view your profile and photos, videos, Q & A’s and personal updates etcetera.

Your Friend Profile allows you to keep easily in touch with friends and family. Share photos, videos, personal preferences and experiences!

Your Business Profile allows you to present yourself in optimally for business opportunities: for instance, you can fill in your resume and present projects for potential new business.

Once you have added your profile, you can become a member of Districts (companies, brands, hotspots), which keeps you posted on anything that goes on in a District. This way you are always up to date with what goes on with your favourite brands, clubs, restaurants and companies. As with your contacts, you can decide for every individual District whether you want to become a member with your Friend Profile or with your Business Profile. 

In your profile's ‘privacy settings’ you can select if you want to receive e-mail notifications for birthdays, contact updates, District updates etcetera.

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER

  • (step 1) Create a profile (PUBLIC PROFILE)

Click on the grey, round ‘become a new member’-button on the homepage or use the ‘join
DistrictWorld’-button which you can find in the header at the top of the site, and register. This is your
‘business card’, showing your picture and some basic information (job-function/interests). This business  card is obligatory, always visible and can be indexed. This part of your profile is automatically
generated when you register at the site.

  • (step 2) E-mail confirmation: after completing the two registration pages you’ll receive an e-mail notification with a confirmation link.  Once you have confirmed your e-mail address you can now easily update, adjust and manage the PUBLIC, FRIEND and BUSINESS areas of your profile.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR FRIEND AND BUSINESS PROFILE

  • (Step 3) create a FRIEND PROFILE and/or a BUSINESS PROFILE

Sign in using the login field in the top header at the right side of the page. After login you always enter the ‘my alerts and updates’-page of your own profile. This section contains all the relevant updates and alerts of your own friends, business contacts and the Districts where you are a member of. From this section you can send personal messages using the ‘send update’-button.

You can view and edit the different sections of your profile with the tabs on the edit my profile’-page (profile management page). You can create and manage your FRIEND and/or BUSINESS PROFILE here.

To edit your ‘PUBLIC PROFILE’:        click `Manage public profile’.
To edit your ‘FRIEND PROFILE’          click ‘Manage friend profile’.
To edit your ‘BUSINESS PROFILE’      click ‘Manage business profile’.

You can customize both your FRIEND PROFILE and BUSINESS PROFILE to your liking and add various facts about yourself.

You can upload photos en videos separately in both your profiles: private snapshots in your FRIEND PROFILE and pictures of business trips, your new collection or your portfolio in your BUSINESS PROFILE.

  • Experience:

You can create a CV in your BUSINESS PROFILE with information about your current job, experience and the organisations you are (or were) a member of.

  • Skins:

You can select several skins created for you by DistrictWorld in cooperation with famous Dutch designers. In the future the amount of skins to choose from will grow. You can use different skins separately for your BUSINESS PROFILE and FRIEND PROFILE.

HOW TO SHIELD YOUR PROFILE (S)
Your Business Card, the PUBLIC PROFILE is always visible. To set the permissions for your FRIEND and BUSINESS PROFILE go to the tab ‘privacy settings’ of the ‘edit my profile’-page in your profile and select the options of your choice.

HOW TO MANAGE YOUR CONTACTS AND IMPROVE YOUR NETWORK
When you are logged in you can add contacts to your network on the ‘edit my contacts’-page. You can select separately if you want to add someone as a business relation or as a friend. You can also invite someone both as a friend and as a business contact.  
Depending on the status you give them, your contacts can see exactly the parts of your profile you allow them to.

You can add friends surfing through the site with the ‘add to your network’-button on each profile. Same here: you have the option to choose for business relation, friend or both.

You can remove contacts by going to the ‘edit my contacts’-page and clicking ‘remove’ next to their avatar. The person you are removing will not be notified.  

HOW TO INVITE FRIENDS AND CONTACTS TO BECOME MEMBERS AS WELL?
You can use the FRIENDFINDER on the homepage to check easily which of your friends are members of DistrictWorld already. You can also invite all your LinkedIn, Hotmail, Outlook, Gmail, Mac, Yahoo Mail, Lycos, Plaxo, Windows live messenger and AOL contacts to join DistrictWorld! Get connected! 

WHAT IS A PEOPLE DISTRICT?
A PEOPLE DISTRICT is meant for whoever it pleases to make a District page. For example because you are a fan of a certain brand or you want to make a PEOPLE DISTRICT for your own network: your hockey team, a study group, a group of cooperating stylists or a PEOPLE DISTRICT for everyone interested in French Restaurants.  

As the moderator of a PEOPLE DISTRICT you choose whether the District is visible for everyone or just for its members. You can also select ‘admission after approval’ to create a sense of exclusivity.  

Within a District you can open a forum, upload pictures and videos, add news items, events and locations using Google Maps.

A PEOPLE DISCTRICT can’t use the Privileges feature that is available to OFFICIAL DISTRICTS. 

 

WHAT IS AN OFFICIAL DISTRICT?

  • A District exclusively for brands, companies, organisations and other official institutions
  • Created by an official representative
  • Members of an OFFICIAL DISTRICT have the opportune to enjoy various Privileges
  • The privileges create optimal brand awareness for the OFFICIAL DISTRICT 
  • An OFFICIAL DISTRICT offers the brand unique interaction with the target audience (brand extension)

 

WHAT DOES AN OFFICIAL DISTRICT OFFER?
As a DistrictWorld user you can become member of an OFFICIAL DISTRICT. You receive alerts in your profile if the OFFICIAL DISTRICT you are a member of adds new pictures, events, news videos or new privileges. This will keep you up to date with your favourite brands, companies, hotspots and so on. Once a week you’ll receive a network updates e-mail, with updates from your Districts. This way you can create your own newsletter just by becoming a member of all the Districts of your interest.  

OFFICIAL DISTRICTS have the same options as PEOPLE DISTRICTS for opening a forum, adding pictures and videos, news, events and locations using Google maps.  

An OFFICIAL DISTRICT does however have the specially developed tool called ‘Privileges’.   

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF DISTRICTS AND USE ITS PRIVILEGES?
When you are logged in you can go to the ‘edit my Districts’-page and add (WAT IS HIER ANDERS?) Districts to your network choosing with which part of your profile you want to become a member of the District. Depending on the status of the connection (FRIEND or BUSINESS CONTACT) you decide which parts of your profile will be visible for the other members of the District.
You can also add a District by clicking the ‘join’-button on the District page when browsing through the website. 

WHAT ARE PRIVILEGES?
OFFICIAL DISTRICTS on DistrictWorld can create exclusive Privileges. These are special offers or opportunities (gifts) for DistrictWorld members. Examples of Privileges are: products you can win (a watch, a pair of jeans), a discount offer especially for members, a free bottle of wine when you make reservations for a restaurant using the OFFICIAL DISTRICT, tickets to a party etcetera. Everyone who is a DistrictWorld member can join and have the chance to be selected for one of the privileges. 

HOW CAN I GET A PRIVILEGE?
When a District creates a Privilege it is visible on the page of the specific District. The newest Privileges are also visible on the DistrictWorld homepage and you can find a listing of all Privileges when you click the ‘Privileges’-tab in the header on top of the homepage.
Every Privilege states the way of participation and the closing date of participation. There are several ways:  lottery, best motivation, discount and first come first serve.
Also stated with every privilege is its availability: for members of the District only or ‘open for all’.
There are no expenses required in participating, so joining for a privilege is free of charge.

At DistrictWorld individuals can create a profile, but ‘brands’ (labels, companies, shops, restaurants, organisations) also have the unique opportunity to create a ‘District Page’ for optimal presentation without any costs involved. This allows them to use their District for direct consumer-brand interaction, a novelty offered by DistrictWorld.

WHAT IS AN OFFICIAL DISTRICT?

  • A District exclusively for brands, companies, organisations and other official institutions
  • Created by an official representative
  • OFFICIAL DISTRICT members have the opportunity to be selected for various Privileges
  • The privileges create optimal brand awareness for the OFFICIAL DISTRICT 
  • An OFFICIAL DISTRICT offers the brand unique interaction with the target audience (brand extension) 

DistrictWorld offers companies and brands the free opportunity to manage their own OFFICIAL DISTRICT with information, news, photos, videos, events, Google maps and loads more!  

Members of DistrictWorld can become members of the OFFICIAL DISTRICT, but an OFFICIAL DISTRICT can also connect with other Districts (brands and companies) to identify themselves or to show their relation to or affinity with other Districts. 

An OFFICIAL DISTRICT can make their District Page interactive by allowing its members to add content, or leave this ability exclusively up to the moderator of the District. 

Members of the OFFICIAL DISTRICT receive automatic notifications and alerts in their profiles of all the news and updates posted within the District page. This creates a very convenient way for the brand or company to communicate on a one on one basis with their target audience.   

An OFFICIAL DISTRICT can offer their (potential) members Privileges to not only increase the number of members, but also create an enthusiastic buzz and vibe amongst members for positive branding.

HOW TO CREATE AN OFFICIAL DISTRICT
Click on the blue round ‘create new District’-button on the homepage and choose OFFICIAL DISTRICT, or click on the ‘create new District’-button on the right side of every District page. 

Complete the form as thoroughly as possible: 

Page 1:

  • Enter title (brand/company name) of the OFFICIAL DISTRICT, country and choose ‘yes’.

Page 2:

  • Select the categories that are applicable to the OFFICIAL DISTRICT you are creating.
  • Upload a picture and press submit when you are content. (image format: min. 220 pixels wide, max. 10 mb)
  • Description: enter a nice, catchy phrase that describes your District.
  • Use tags for labelling your OFFICIAL DISTRICT. (example  for clubs: drinks, club, nightlife, DJs, music)
  • Account:  if you already have a private profile and want to manage the OFFICIAL DISTRICT from that profile choose ‘yes’. You will be the moderator. (District host) If you want to use a separate moderator-account for the OFFICIAL DISTRICT choose ‘no’. (This option is valuable if your district is going to be hosted by different individuals (interns) or the moderating is shared: a new separate moderator-account will be created and can be used by more individuals.
  • City and address are optional but will add visibility for the OFFICIAL DISTRICT on Google maps on the site. (Interesting for shops and restaurants e.g.)
  • Members:  select whether the OFFICIAL DISTRICT is open for everyone to become a member or only after permission by the moderator.
  • Choose who can add content (news, photos, hotspots and events) to the OFFICIAL DISTRICT: only the moderator, or members as well (for an interactive District). You can select this per item.
  • Select if all information is visible for members only or for DistrictWorld members in general. (non-OFFICIAL DISTRICT members)
  • Click Continue.

After completing the two registration pages you will receive an e-mail notification with a confirmation link. You can click on the link and are redirected to a page which says: ‘proceed to your District’. Click this, and you can continue completing the District page.

  • Congratulations! You created a District page! You can add photos, videos, events and much more! You can create a Privilege instantly to create a buzz and attract members, have fun!

 

WHAT TO DO TO CREATE ATTRACTIVENESS FOR VISITORS?

  • Keep the District page up-to-date.
  • Add as much fun content (news, photos and videos) as possible.
  • Create Privileges to offer exclusive treats for members and attract new members!
  • Use the opportunity to create an exclusive custom made skin (background) to add more style and breathe the atmosphere of the brand or company. DistrictWorld members can use the skin also as a background in their profiles, creating a fun and effective brand extension. WHY OFFER PRIVILIGES TO (POTENTIAL) DISTRICT MEMBERS
OFFICIAL DISTRICTS on DistrictWorld can create exclusive Privileges. These are special offers or opportunities (gifts) for DistrictWorld members. Examples of Privileges are: products you can win, a discount offer especially for members, a free bottle of wine when you make reservations for a restaurant using the OFFICIAL DISTRICT, tickets to a party etcetera. Everyone who is a DistrictWorld member can join and have a chance to be selected for the privileges. 
There are several ways to have members participate:

  • Discount
  • First come, first serve
  • Lottery
  • Best motivation

The OFFICIAL DISTRICT can decide how to offer a Privilege: to all DistrictWorld members, or to members of the OFFICIAL DISTRICT only, which will increase the number of DISTRICT members, since membership of the OFFICIAL DISTRICT is required. In an upcoming phase relevant news can be easily spread to an ever growing amount of target audiences. 

Every member of the OFFICIAL DISTRICT receives alerts on their profile when a change is made inside the OFFICIAL DISTRICT. (For example: adding new content, or creating a new privilege) This creates the opportunity for easy one on one communication with the OFFICIAL DISTRICT members (target audience).  

HOW TO CREATE A PRIVILEGE?
Go to ‘edit Privileges’ and enter the required data with ‘add Privilege’ now click:  ‘save Privilege’. The Privilege is online! 

HOW TO CREATE A SKIN FOR MY OFFICIAL DISTRICT?
Brands and companies have the opportunity to have a special custom made skin created to add extra style and visibility.  DistrictWorld members can also use this skin as a profile background (theme) which creates a fun and unique brand extension. The brand is now visible outside the OFFICIAL DISTRICT for visitors! (More information info@DistrictWorld.com). 

HOW TO LOG IN TO MANAGE A DISTRICT AND WHAT DO YOU SEE?

  • If you choose the option to manage an OFFICIAL DISTRICT from your private profile and you want to manage or add content: sign in using the login field in the header right top with your username and password.  Go to   ‘edit my Districts’ and choose ‘my moderator Districts’.
  • If you chose the option to manage an OFFICIAL DISTRICT with a separate moderator account, everyone with the username and password for that account can sign in using the login field at the top right end of the site. Immediately after signing in you see the edit page.

Using the tabs/buttons you can view the separate sections and adjust and edit them.
